Can I leave the Crock Pot on while i'm at work?!
Answers: I just bought a Crock Pot and i'm afraid of leaving it on while i'm at work. I think it would be great to leave the food cooking slowly while i'm at work, but I want to know if that is okay? Thanks.
I have done it for years. That is the joy of the crockpot. Put all together in the crock pot the night before, put in fridge, in the morning put it on low before you leave for work, and come home and dinner is ready! Not a problem at all. I do it overnight too. Oh, and I am DEFINITELY deathly afraid of fire. I am comfortable with this though. If you just can't do it, use it when you're home all day, and use a pressure cooker for the evening meal - usually done in an hour or so.
I do it all the time. Especially roasts and chicken. Its safe. Just dont overfill the water.
I've let it on all day while at work with great success. I suggest leaving it operating in the sink in case it overflows though, so the mess will be easier to clean up.
That's kind of what is for isn't it? Read the manual and keep flammable material away from it and it should be fine.
u betcha,, i usually leave it on low, let stuff cook all day, experiment with different foods, go to the bookstore and buy, or read some recipes,,
search online too, tons of crock pot recipes,
Three things first -
1.) make sure the cord is in good working order - no frays or nicks in it.
2.) make sure you have a good outlet that is not overloaded with other kitchen appliances.
3.) Place a large baking dish underneath the crock pot to catch any overflow and add a barrier between the pot and your counter.
Use the low heat settings and when you get home you can always turn it to high for the last thirty minutes or so if needed.
make sure it's full of water, or broth, and turn it on low.
your good to go.
Yes, I've had one for years and go to work with food cooking all the time. It has different settings, you want to put it on low which will allow food to cook for 8 to 10 hrs. safely, put seasoning in at the beginning and enjoy dinner when you come home.
Yes, that is the way a crock pot works. First, you want to make sure that it is in good working condition (maybe try it out on the weekend while you are at home first), second you want to make sure you put a metal tray or something under it for easy cleanup just in case it bubbles over a little. Also make sure that it is the only plug in your plug in as well. I would leave it on low while at work all day and when you get home TADA dinner is done!!!
Yes it is ok I love them you should have gotten a pamphlet inside the box with different recipes on it and it tell you how Long you should cook each item .
People have been doing it since they came out. Thats what they are for. You may want to use it while you are at home first to "get to know" your crockpot. Each one is different. I had one once that cooked so hot it needed extra water for a full day. Also depends on what you are cooking. The same crockpot would not cook carrots thru on the low setting. So just use it a couple times to learn which setting you need for the time you will be gone.
That's pretty much what they're for!
I do it all the time. It makes my life so much easier especially when I know that my family has things to do and activites to go to. Roasts are great in it.
leave it on simmer and you should be fine. I do it all the time
