Making a cake,,,,please help...!?!
Answers: I have one of those molded 'Winnie the pooh' cake pans and i want to attempt to make it like the pic that came with it (decorating with icing with hundreds of little star frosing things of different colors instead of just a sheet of frosting with dec.) Do you think it will take one box cake mix, what frosting would work best (store bought preff. or really easy recipie), and do you spray the cake pan at all so it comes out ok without messing up pic. ANY TIPS WOULD BE GREAT!!!
tiger sound like you are in trouble! one mix will do it. yes spray the pan good. bake according to the directions for a 9 by 11 size pan, bake on the center rack of the oven make sure of correct oven temp., to make sure cake is done should be firm to the touch not the least bit soft or mushy. let cake cool 15 mins before flipping out of pan, and flip it out on a tray or heavy card board so it won't have to be moved again. if cake rose a little higher than the pan ,when the cake cools , slice off some the rise so when you flip it out it will lie nice and flat on your tray. for some decorating tips go to the Wilton decorating web sight with your search engine and they can give you a lot of tips both baking and decorating. good luck from a retired baker, hope this helped!
yep yep what they said is all you need to know. with the frosting you need something softer than most store bought frostings id say bc your going to need to use a frosting tube with a star tip. so that white fluffy frosting from the store with some food dye should work fine. inless youd like to venture to make your own. its really not all that hard i know you could do it ^_^
and its VERY important for you to let the cake cool competely before taking it out of the baking pan. if you try to remove it when its still warm its almost 100% likely to rip/fall apart.
good luck! ^_^
One cake mix will be enough. Any frosting you want to use will be good. If you find it too soft, add confectioners sugar to make it stiffer. Add the sugar a little at a time so you don't make it too stiff. I would grease the pan well with Crisco and then flour it. This will prevent the cake from sticking.
