Cooking more then you need and freezing whats left over has helped me out loads at the end of the month.
Bulking meat out with veg, for instance mince with grated carrot and mushrooms, helps it go further and its better for you
I love spaghetti bolonese and once I watched my Gran cooking it and I was amazed about the number of different vegetables that went in the mince.
Basically she would put broccoli, carrots, peas, beans and onions in the mince, then once cooked she would liquidise it all so it just looked like mince, then she would put alot of tomatoe puree in so all you could taste was the puree. (my grandad hated veg so it was a good way to get him to eat it, he didn't know it was in there.)

stir Fry's are a really good healthy meal, you can liven them up with different meats/fish and various different sauces. its good to prepare your own too instead of buying pre packed. best of all its so cheap. i usually make mine with either pork, chicken or prawns. thinly sliced carrots, baby corn, spring onions, cabbage, mixed peppers, mangetout and a nice sweet chilli sauce.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lovely.
Use a microwave with lean meat & vegies & spices w/ brown rice no oil little or no salt.
eat small portions, freeze leftovers, once a week we have leftovers for a meal. double up when makeing things like lasange or spigetti bolenase, eat less meat or get a big piece freese portions for several meals or sandwiches or replace mince with dry soy mince, have more vegetrian meals an make from scratch it costs less when cooking for a family
dont use very much grease when cooking try grilling then use kitchen paper to remove excess grease
Smoked Sausage Cassoulet
Ingredients
1 tbs oil
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp Schwartz Garlic Granules
1 tbs Schwartz Herbes de Provence
440 g tin mixed beans, drained and rinsed
420 g tin baked beans
225 g (8 oz) smoked sausage, sliced
1 red pepper, diced
1 tbs tomato purée
150 ml (? pint) chicken stock
To serve:
4 crusty rolls
Preparation
Heat the oil in a large saucepan and fry the onion until browned. Add the Garlic Granules and Herbes de Provence. Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve with the bread rolls or alternatively, cut the tops off the rolls, scoop out the middles and fill with the cassoulet. Great to serve outdoors at bonfires or on Halloween.
