Can i cook a turkey breast in a crock pot?!
Answers: ive got a 3 lb turkey breast for thanksgiving, is it better to cook it in the oven or a crock pot and for how long? thanks
It will be moister if you cook it in the crock pot. At 3 lbs I would cook at least 4-5 hours. Be sure and use poultry seasoning, sage, salt, pepper, onion powder and some garlic powder, some celery pieces, but dont go to crazy with seasonings, just a little here and there. If you want to try a sure fire way to get it right, buy one of those "cook it in the bag" type things. Just put your turkey breast in the bag, it already has it's own seasonings included, tie it up and follow directions. Also, if you do it in a crock pot, let it cook in either chicken or canned turkey broth.
Yes put on low and cook for 6 hours. Remember it will be Very tender and fall off the bone
you can cook it in the crock pot.
I cook a lot of stuff in there because we work a lot.
You will have to make the stuffing separate of course.
And remember to warn guests that they may find some bones because the meat will just fall off the bones.
It won't be a solid looking "Turkey" when it comes out.
But it sure will be delicious.
Add your carrots and onions, etc.
Be sure to use enough water and usually some bouillon.
After you take the turkey out you can use the juice to make a simple gravy by just adding corn starch and some spices.
Yes, that is how I plan to do mine. I brown it first on all sides and then cook for 4 hours .
A whole turkey is always too much .
P.S. I like legs and thighs better but that should not really matter with the cooking . LOL
