Can something like Egg Beaters egg whites be substituted for real egg whites in meringue mushrooms?!

Question: I'm planning on trying my hand at meringue mushrooms for the holidays this year, and since I've never done it before, I thought I should ask: Will it work if I use egg-whites-in-a-carton (Egg Beaters or similar) or do I have to seperate real eggs to make them? (And on a side note, does anyone have a good recepie for spiced cashews/other nuts they'd be willing to share?) Thanks!

angel if you have egg whites, which they sell right next to the egg beaters, they will work . if you have egg beaters they won't.

yes you can hardly notice the difference in any substitution I've made with them.

When in doubt. Use shell eggs. Also, to get more egg white use Grade B eggs if you can. the yolk is smaller. Egg Beaters are yellow and coagulate slower when they are heated.
