Marinades for steak....?!
Answers: i need a marinade recipe for steak. i just don't have many ingredients. any ides?
Look around at what you have. The best one that I've ever had was using stuff that I had laying around my kitchen.
Soy Sauce
Worchester Sauce
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Pepper
A little Brown Sugar
A little vinegar
And if you like it a little spicy, some red pepper flakes or powder.
No measurements, just what you like. Just make sure if the steak isn't covered with the marinate, then flip it half way through.
(16 ounce) beef sirloin steaks
1/4 cup dark beer
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
DIRECTIONS
Preheat grill for high heat.
Use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the steaks, and place steaks in a large baking dish. In a bowl, mix together beer, teriyaki sauce, and brown sugar. Pour sauce over steaks, and let sit about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with 1/2 the seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder; set aside for 10 minutes. Turn steaks over, sprinkle with remaining seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and continue marinating for 10 more minutes.
Remove steaks from marinade. Pour marinade into a small saucepan, bring to a boil, and cook for several minutes.
Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill steaks for 7 minutes per side, or to desired doneness. During the last few minutes of grilling, baste steaks with boiled marinade to enhance the flavor and ensure juiciness.
If it's a good steak, don't marinate it at all. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder before grilling, and you're done!
If it's not a great cut of meat, marinate it and cook it slower.
Here are several marinades that use few ingredients:
salt, pepper, olive oil, citrus juice, crushed garlic
soy sauce and italian dressing
orange juice, green onions, salt & pepper
red wine, pepper, smashed garlic and onions
vinegar, oil, dijon mustard, pepper
any seasoning blend from the cabinet, white wine, lemon juice, oil
And here's a fun one that works great:
Marinate a steak for at least two hours in a can of Dr. Pepper. Remove from marinade, salt and pepper it, and grill it in a pan with butter or oil. Remove it when it's done, add a bit more oil/butter, and a roughly-chopped onion. Sautee the onion until soft with brown edges. Add a half a can of fresh Dr. P, some salt and pepper, and a dollop of dijon mustard if you got some. Cook until the liquid is a bit thick and coats the onions. Pour it on the steak. Poof! I call it DoctorPepperSteak.
