Does anyone know of another name for Swiss Steak?!

Question: My mom used to make this really great recipe that used Swiss Steak that I would like to make.
I have gone to several grocery stores and meat (butcher) shops trying to buy it, but no one seems to know what I am talking about.
I know when I was younger my mom would get whatever meat it was and Swiss Steak was what she called it.
Is there another name for it, or was it maybe the way she cooked it that made it "Swiss Steak"?
I would appreciate any help on this.
It is driving me nuts!!

Thank you!

My mom used to make it too..she used round steak. It's the way it is cooked that makes it "Swiss". I believe it is made with onions, and tomatoes, and it is cooked for quite a while, since round steak is a more tough cut of meat. Once in a while mom would add potatoes, or green beans. Sorry I don't have an actual recipe. I have never attempted, because I think we ate it quite a bit when we were growing up!

Swiss steak is a recipe. I use round steak for it. Here is my personal recipe I've been using for 31 years...
3/4 lb round steak (not tenderized).
2 tbs flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
2 Tbs oil
1-8oz. can stewed tomatoes
1 medium bell pepper, sliced (circles)
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 tsp salt
Cut meat into 2 slices. Mix flour, 1/4 tsp salt, and the pepper; coat meat with flour mixture. heat oil in a 8 inch skillet; brown meat over medium heat, about 15 minutes. Add tomatoes to skillet. reduce heat; cover and simmer 30 minutes. Add green pepper, onion and 1/2 tsp salt. Cover and simmer until meat is tender, 30 to 45 minutes.
I use a little more meat than this and just garlic salt/pepper the meat, dredge it in flour and get on with it. This original recipe is for you to get the idea. This is my favorite meal. Ya gotta have mashed potatoes with it and the gravy in your skillet on top. Green beans go good, too, on the side...with fresh warm white bread. God, this is good, lol....man pleasin', too!
You can also buy frozen Swiss Steak in the Stouffer's section, YUK!
P.S. Don't forget to turn your spatula over and using the back-side make sure it isn't sticking to the bottom of the skillet.

As the other answerer said, it's a recipe, not a cut of meat. I'd use inside or outside round for it as well, since you have it in the oven for a long time, the meat gets soft and tender.
Oh, I make mine in the oven instead of frying it and cooking it on the stovetop - much easier.
This recipe is pretty close to how I do mine, except for the frying ahead of time, and I add a can of mushrooms.
