Is it safe to eat something with alcohol in it while pregnant?!
Answers: I love this pasta sauce by Bertolli that has Burgundy Wine in it. Is it safe to eat this while pregnant?
As long as it is cooked, the alcohol cooks out and there would not be an issue.
It;s fine. ONly a trace amount of alcohol will be ingested plus the heat may get rid of it altogether
the alcohol itself cooks out and your left with only the flavor. Perfectly safe
It's ok to eat things that are cooked with alcohol in it. The alcohol evaporates when it is cooked but you still get the flavor. But if you aren't sure, ask you OB DOC!
Oh, if the dish is cooked it's fine all alcohol is cooked out.
I believe that most of the time the alcohol is burned off during the cooking and you are just left with the flavour of the wine but there is no actual alcoholic content. Just to be save check out the label on the container and see if there is a web site or telephone number for the company and contact them. I really don't think that there would be enough alcohol in a pasta sauce that would harm your baby.
Most doctors these days say it's fine to have a glass of wine every now and then when pregnant. In the case of the sauce, the alcohol is cooked out.
I think you should go to a doctor for something like this.
But I don't think it should be that big of an problem for the baby.
It’s fine. I’d have a third or half glass of wine while I was pregnant. My doctor said it was ok as long as it was very little. In fact, he said it might be good when I was towards the end of my pregnancy to relax me. I’ve heard other doctors say the same thing. Of course, some say to abstain completely. My son is 6 now and he’s just fine! But in a sauce, the alcohol cooks off- so you’re really not taking in any alcohol.
First
Alcohol will ONLY effect your baby as you get drunk.
enjoying a glass of wine at dinner is fine
as for dishes and sauces made with any alcohol is ok also..
Excess and abuse will hurt..
I used wine or beer in cooking for my whole family even when my kids were very small. The alcohol will evaporate unless it's added too late to give enough time; whatever trace amounts are left just aren't enough to matter. Same goes for when you're pregnant.
Besides, having a very small amount of alcohol occasionally won't harm the baby anyway--it's frequent or heavy drinking that you need to worry about.
