Apple pie with golden delicious apples?!
Answers: anyone have a great recipe? easy as possible as i have not really had that much experience baking!!
I LOVE golden delicious apples for my pies. But not the red ones. They are not for cooking.
Peel and slice 6 apples.
Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar, dash or two of each- cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Add 2 tblsp of butter. Cook in pot with about 1/4 cup water until butter melts. Add tblsp cornstarch to tblsp of water and stir into apples to thicken. Pour into deep dish pie shell.
For topping:
combine 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 stick of butter, srinkle of cinnamon. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of pie and bake on 350 until golden brown.
There are so many recipe sites on the internet.
Just type it in the search bar for Pillsbury or another company. They are not going to give you a bad recipe for their product.
I have made apple pie out of any apples, some of them you just have to cut in smaller pieces because they don't cook down at well.

Moms apple pie
INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3 fluid ounces milk
6 cups apples - peeled, cored and chopped
1 lemon, juiced
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (230 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix white flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in oil and milk all at once with a fork. When mixture forms a ball, divide into 2 pieces. Roll out, one half at a time between two pieces of waxed paper. Line a 9 inch pie pan with one half.
In a large bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, sugar and spices. Mix well and pour into pie crust; dot with butter. Cover with top crust. Seal and crimp edges, and cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, then lower oven temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Continue to bake for another 30 minutes or until apples are soft.
American apple pie----Yummy!!!!
INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
7 1/2 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples
1 cup raisins
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1 egg
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Spray deep dish pie plate with cooking spray
Combine white sugar, light brown sugar, flour, lemon, cinnamon, and mix well. Add apples and raisins to sugar mixture; stir until fruit is well coated.
Spoon apple mixture into pie crust. Place second piecrust on top of filling, and trim edges. Lightly glaze top of pie with a beaten egg, then sprinkled with a little sugar.
Bake till golden brown, about 35 to 40 minutes. Place on a wire rack, and cool 30 minutes.
Buy a frozen Mrs. Smith's deep dish apple pie from the supermarket and follow baking directions.

I use tart apples to make a pie. Some are baking apples and some are not really for baking. Ask the produce person.
