R u going to cook Thanksgiving diner,going out 2 resturant,or visit w/family & have homecooked dinner?!
Answers: Will you have cornbread dressin(stuffing)cranberry sauce, giblett gravy, green beans or what will you have?Yankees usually dont have cornbread dressing(stuffing)but its delicious.
i think you suffer from a great misconception. yankees do have corn bread stuffing. i was born and raised in new england. do you know where the appilachian mts are? no they are not just in the south. i was raised on cornbread and beans just like my southern kin. i am appilacian born and bread, but north of the mason dixon line. i think it is city folks that don't have cornbread dressing.
I'm cooking it. I do every year, from turkey with all then fixings, to homemade pies (pumpkin and apple).
I am meeting my son and his wife and my granddaughter half way and will stay at a hotel together, we will go out, lack of family to cook. He is on readiness to deploy, so this may be our last chance together before that happens. My oldest son, whom I haven't seen in 3 years, will be there too. I am in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I will cook at home on a different day whatever my hubby decides is for dinner, turkey, goose, duck, whatever, with a bunch of side and deserts) Oh, I'm taking homemade carmel corn and my famous Oatmeal Cookies Plus, large sized for snacks!
I am going to family's house, but I am still doing most of the cooking. I will be cooking one of the turkeys (we have a huge family), gravy, stuffing, homemade carrot cake, sweet potato casserole, and potato salad. Geez, i got tired just writting out what i have to do!
We will be having it in our home, and will have 25 people, everyone will pitch in and bring something.
We are going to have Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, brocolli rice and cheese casserole, cornbread dressing and as I call it "Yankee"stuffing (very yummy!), cranberry sauce, hashbrown casserole, a relish tray, deviled eggs, homemade rolls, and an assortment of pies, chocolate, pumpkin, apple, peanut-butter cream, and a pumpkin roll.
Thanksgiving Blessings to you and your family!:)
I make a dinner for home (for my son) with turkey, CORNBREAD stuffing (and yes, I live in the north), sweet potato casserole, cabbage, corn casserole, cranberry sauce. But, we go out to have dinner at one of our family's home, and so I bring a dish or two there. I do this for X-mas and New Years Day, as well. but of course a different menu.
