Baking substitute for brown sugar...?!


Question: i want to make homemade chocolate chip cookies, but i dnt have brown sugar. ive heard to sub it with white sugar & molassas, but i dnt have molasses....what can i do? recipes w/o brown sugar? HELP! thanks :)

combine white sugar and maple syrup if you have it...should taste okay...good luck to you!

Use an equal amount of white sugar as the recipe calls for brown, and add about ? tsp. of molasses for the colo rand flavor of brown sugar.

You can just use white sugar and there will be a taste difference (not as rich) but it should still work fine.

I've done this a few times in the last weeks cuz I kept forgetting to buy brown sugar. Just use white and for every cup of sugar add 1 tbsp of molasses. Works great. In fact I think I liked my cookies better that way than I did with the brown sugar.
