Have you made something speacil for someone?!
Answers: And it turned out to be a disaster. My mum made the most amazing rice pudding so after she died my dad found an old recipe book with her recipe in it. To cheer him up I said I would make it for him but I ended up putting too much vanilla in (i should have really used vanilla pods) I t was horrible no amount of cream or milk could make it taste better but him and my husband ate the whole lot and said it was delish!
My father decided to gather the entire family together for Christmas after he was given a large rectory in his new country parish. Great idea..we all turned up and sorted out bedrooms and one or two floors with sleeping bags..we are a large family..and made a rota for cooking and so on. Come my day for preparing dinner, my father walks into the house and announces that as he knows that I enjoy duck, he has ordered some for me to cook that day. I do enjoy duck; very much..but I had never even seen a raw one, let alone cooked one before this! To make matters worse, whilst I am trying to remember everything I have ever heard about cooking duck and making an orange sauce, my sister announces that she can not bear duck and reminds me that one of the other guests...friend of family member..is a vegetarian. None of the children wanted to try the duck and my father disliked fruit of any sort served with meat..so, yes, I have cooked something very special..it is called "Tough Roasted Duck with Orange Sticky Stuff;Overcooked Roast Lamb for those too clever to try the Duck and Vegetarian Goop for the Fussy B****r Who would not eat Meat at all!" Be glad to share the recipes.
no
I will be making winter hanging baskets this weekend for my friends Birthday. I have made baskets up before for presents.
The fact that you thought to make it was all that counts. What a wonderful gesture!
A cake, and half of it got stuck in the cake tin when I turned it out. I tried to piece it together again but it wasn't even the right shape as the whole thing was in hundreds of pieces of sponge. It was funny though and I took a picture to cheer me up. My husband thought it was histerical too!
yes - my husband is a recovering alcoholic and won't eat anything with alcohol in it. I made a stroganoff and realised the recipe called for white wine and I didn't want to put any in. I used a little white wine vinegar instead and it made all the cream curdle and was disgusting. He picked at it and made polite comments until I admitted it was disgusting then we got a takeaway and laughed about it.
Oh yes and had to throw the whole thing out!! I think all cooks do that from time to time.
I am sorry about your mom and maybe you can try the recipe again and make your dad feel better.
