How long should I cook pork chops in mushroom soup?!
Answers: I seasoned and browned some pork chops and am currently cooking them in cream of mushroom soup on the range. How long do you recommend that I cook them?
You can simmer them for 30 minutes but keep in mind the longer you cook them, the softer the meat will be. My mother used to simmer them for almost an hour and they cut with a fork.
If they are already browned, then 20 to 30 minutes would be fine.
funny I am doing the same thing tonight. I keep them covered and cook and a very low temp. use a meat thermometer
Till they reach an internal temp of 160.
I did something similar the other day with pork chops. I browned them and then simmered them in chicken broth, garlic, and spices. I just let them simmer for maybe 30 minutes? They were a bit dry, but I used them to make fajitas, and they shredded up nicely.
You could also use a meat thermometer to tell you when they are done, but I wouldn't worry after 20 minutes of simmering. Especially once they were browned.
Herbed Pork Chops in Mushroom Sauce
Serves: 4
Prep/Cook: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. dried basil leaves OR dried thyme leaves, crushed
4 boneless pork chops, 3/4" thick
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's? Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup OR Campbell's? Condensed 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/4 cup milk
Hot cooked rice
Directions:
MIX garlic powder, paprika and basil. Coat chops with garlic powder mixture.
HEAT oil in skillet. Cook chops 10 min. or until browned.
ADD onion and cook until tender.
ADD soup and milk. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 10 min. or until chops are done. Serve with rice.
TIP: Serve with steamed snow peas, cut carrots and yellow rice. For dessert serve an apple cup: cubed Red and Golden Delicious apples topped with raisins and sliced almonds.
Creamy Mustard Pork Chops
Serves: 4
Prep/Cook: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
4 boneless pork chops, 3/4" thick
1 1/2 tsp. lemon pepper seasoning
1 tbsp. butter OR margarine
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's? Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup OR Campbell's? Condensed 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp. Dijon-style mustard
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
SPRINKLE chops with lemon pepper seasoning. Heat butter in skillet. Cook chops 10 min. or until browned.
ADD soup, milk and mustard. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 10 min. or until chops are done. Sprinkle with parsley.
TIP: Serve with egg noodles and your favorite steamed vegetable. For dessert serve chunky applesauce topped with cinnamon.
