Put the egg in a bowl of water - if it sinks it's still okay - if it floats then throw it.
Eggs packaging normally have a date, but I would use them within 2 weeks normally. Just buy them 6 at the time.
Here are some tips to help you store your eggs safely:
Do store eggs in a cool, dry place, ideally in the fridge.
Do store eggs away from other foods. It's a good idea to use your fridge's egg tray, if you have one, because this helps to keep eggs separate.
Do eat dishes containing eggs as soon as possible after you've prepared them, but if you're not planning to eat them straight away, cool them quickly and then keep them in the fridge.
Don't use eggs after their 'best before' date for the safest choice.
Don't use eggs with damaged shells, because dirt or bacteria might have got inside them.
i once boiled an egg , it was there for about 8 month
i boiled it , when it was done a peeled the shell to find the eggwhite was actually GREEN,
I HAD A SMELL.it was so disgusting it actaully made me collapse with laughter................ you should try.it is fun
Eggs go off like milk. If you crack a rotten egg it will stink of sulpher.
If the egg floats on water thats fine...but if it sinks down...THROW IT RIGHT AWAY.
