When making chili with the chili seasoning mix (packet) would it be too much to add more spices?!

Question: If not, which seasonings are good? Cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper?

Taste it first. It will vary- sometimes I make more- use tomatoes and they have more liquid etc. I add chili powder and cumin 1/2 teaspoon at a time. Wait about 5 mins and taste. I always add more heat with cayenne pepper.

yes it is a measured amount

What does it need for you, if the packet is not enough? Any of those you mentioned would be OK, its just your taste.

Lots of factors go into this. Depending how spicy you like something. Add some of the above items slowly in small amounts and season to your taste. Go easy on the salt. A cajun spice is good, onion, gren peppers, jalapeno peppers,

I wouldn't use the pre-packaged stuff, too much salt. Use chili powder ( I like using a few different brands for a more interesting flavor), cumin, mexican oregano and a combination of black and red pepper. Salt to taste.

it mostly depends on what you like to eat and what the people your cooking for like to eat.
Don't be afraid to try things out. experiment in the kitchen! if you don't want to try it with too much then just cook how you would normally and then take a little bit of it and make that part your experiment

no! i use extra chili powder and salt and pepper.some people like more spices than others.

Of course you can add more seasoning. Just taste before you do. I love cumin and if you have it ancho chili powder. To me it has a nicer flavor than regular chili powder. If you want to go the extra mile add some bitter sweet chocolate (about 1 oz) and cinnamon.

my advice, ditch the seasoning packet. I don't trust those packets when I don't know what's really in them! I use chili powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, bay leaves and a mexican seasoning mix. (I use McCormick's Santa Fe Spice Blend) I also put in a generous amount of hot pepper sauce. (I like my chili spicy). adjust ingredients to your taste.

If you like whats in the packet and you want more of their spices , just add more of what is listed. Cumin is very good, and there is already a lot of chilli powder. Garlic , onions, even canned green chili, pinch of sugar. Prolly don't need black pepper. If you like it even spicier there is paprika and Cayenne(this is VERY hot)

I like to add garlic, cumen, salt pepper, paprika, cayan, fresh jalapenos, red peppers, onion, crushed tomatoess, tomatoe paste, and my secret ingredient, peanut butter it help to even out the saltines and it makes it sweet smooth and rich. just add one table spoon but you can play with it and add more if you like?
