Allspice berries conversion to powder, Please?!

Question: My recipe calls for 5 whole allspice seeds . Is there an easy conversion for ground allspice? Allspice seeds/berries are hard to come by and I prefer them not floating in my chili.

You'll want to use less of a ground spice then you would whole berries.

Whole berries cooked with your chile will slowly release their flavor, and it will not be as potent as adding ground Allspice.

I would say use between 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of the ground stuff.

sure
