Cube steak?!
Answers: my boyfriend is wanting me to cook cube steak for dinner, and the only way I know to cook it is to cook it in a small amount of water and oil, but he does not want it cooked that way. He is wanting it coated, and I have no idea what I am doing, I need recipes.......HELP!!
Oh he wants it fried??? Season the meat (salt, pepper, garlic powder). You can use flour for the coating, I like to season my flour as well, wet the meat in an egg wash (egg + water) dip in the flour, repeat the process one more time then fry it up in a skillet with hot oil. Good Luck. Make some gravy with it too!!! yummo!!!
Take the cube steak, dip it in flour seasoned with black pepper, then dip it in egg that you have beaten with a fork, then dip it in bread crumbs. Put some oil in a skillet - just enough to cover the bottom - heat it - and once it's hot, add the cube steak and brown it on both sides. Remove from the skillet, place on a cookie sheet and bake in a 350o oven for 15 minutes. This last step will allow the tissues of the cube steak to relax and not be so tight - thus tenderizing it. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy on both the spuds and the steak.
Never cooked it before, but try putting some store baught marinade on it, and then possibly fry it or maybe bake it in the oven? If you have a bbq, that may be the best way to go.. Ask him if thats alright with him.. Make sure you add some spices to it though. Google "Cube steak recipes" and you'll find tons of ways to cook it.
Tell your boyfriend that if he doesn't like the way you cook, he can make his own da mn cube steak.
Here is the recipe I use for my family.

2 eggs
1 can french onion soup

Beat eggs with 1/4 cup water. Dip cube steaks in bread crumbs then egg mix and back to bread crumbs. Pan fry until brown and place in sheet pan. Spoon onion soup over steaks and add water. Cover pan with foil and bake 1hr at 350 degrees.
Country Style Fried cube steak
INGREDIENTS
4 (4 ounce) cube steaks
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
1 3/4 teaspoons ground black pepper, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup lard
1 cup milk
DIRECTIONS
Season meat with 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and 1/4 teaspoon of the pepper; set aside. In a shallow dish, mix flour with 1 teaspoon of the pepper. Dredge each steak in flour. Dip in beaten egg, then dredge in flour again.
Heat lard in a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Fry steaks 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the fat. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the dredging flour into oil. Cook over medium heat for 1 minute, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of skillet. Gradually whisk in milk. Cook, stirring frequently, 3 to 4 minutes, or until thickened and bubbly. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoons pepper; gravy should be quite peppery.
He wants chicken fried steak
one bowl with egg and milk
One bowl with flour and season salt
dip in milk/ egg first then in flour, coat evenly. put in pan of hot oil cook until brown and no longer pink.
Served with white gravy and mashed potatoes.
Southern comfort food.
Be sure to cook it low and slow. The meat is tough and needs this method of cooking to make it more tender. My Mom would also cover it in brown gravy and onions, that helps tenderize too.
