Thanksgiving help!?!?!

Question: My husband and I just relocated to a different state but our new house is not finished being built. We are currently staying in an efficiency apartment that only has a kitchenette. We have 2 stove top burners (one large and one small) and a microwave for cooking. I've got large stock pots, a sauce pan and a skillet. We are not allowed to use other cooking devices like a smoker, fryer or counter top roasting oven or anything like them in our building. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could possibly make a turkey? It doesn't need to be an entire turkey. Maybe just a turkey breast....Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Wow...Ok...If I had to do this, this is what I would do. I would treat it like any slow-braised poultry without the oven...I would brown the turkey breast (or pieces) in a pan with a bit of oil, just until browned on all sides. (this will add flavor, but also make it look more appetizing). Place in stock pot. Then add a bit of stock (chicken or veggie will work) - just a cup or two - you just need an inch or so of liquid in the pot. Add some sliced onion for some flavor, even a garlic clove, crushed and a sprig of sage. (rosemary or thyme would be nice too). Reduce heat to the absolute lowest setting, put a lid on it and let it simmer for a few hours. (an instant read thermometer will be really helpful here) If the liquid level gets low, add some more as needed. You can also add chopped carrots and potatoes the last hour or so - that would be really good! This should work just fine. I will tell ya - I once had a studio apartment that I had just moved into before the holidays. I was making a turkey for a couple of friends - well, I went to put the turkey in the oven and IT WOULDN'T FIT! The oven was too small! lol! lol! lol! I had to cut the whole thing up and roast it like that...but I gotta tell you - it was probably one of the best turkeys that I ever made. You can totally make this work - it's just turkey - just a bird! Think of it more like chicken and you may be more inspired! Have a happy holiday!

Just buy a fully cooked turkey or turkey breast and heat it in the microwave.

Is there a grill??? Tried it out last week, works beautifully. Slow cook for about 6 hours then remove foil to brown. Wonderful flavor, have pan with rack, catches drippings (gravy) and nice and tender.

thanks giving should be about enjoying life and being thankful for your "blessings". I would not sweat it so much about cooking from scratch this year and find a local restaurant who will do the meat (smoked, fried, or slow cooked) and just make the sides. I have found it is just as good and cost about the same.

I'd order the pre-cooked turkey dinner from your local grocery store.

if you happen to have a slow cooker allrecipes website has a great recipe for a turkey breast cooked in one thats what i am going to try this year. if you try it read the reviews frist for ideas. good luck bacondebaker
