Anybody know an English word for "spicy hot" flavour?!
There does not seem to be a proper English word for hot spicy.
Must be to do with our traditionally rather un-spicy food.
Answers: Spicy can mean anything with spice in it (e.g. a cinnamon bun) and hot can mean plain high temperature. Peppery means specifically to do with pepper, maybe not even hot.

We use "piquant", but that's not English really, just a loan word. Your second paragraph is spot on!
