What kinds of pots and pans??!

Question: I remember hearing on the news that a certain type of pan was beneficial health wise to use...I think it was copper??
I remember the news lady saying that when you cook with these pans you get health benefits from the metal?
Does anyone know what kind I should get?? Is it copper??

If you get copper pans, the interior will always be steel or stainless steel, so it won't be contacting your food anyway.

Bourgeat makes the best copper cookware in the world, followed by All-Clad.

However, copper starts tarnishing immediately. Both those companies make beautiful cookware with outer finishes that are easier to maintain, and are still superb quality.

However, they are both very expensive.....but they will last throughout GENERATIONS in your family.

NO, copper is poisonous!

There is an urban legend about cast iron cookware adding iron to your diet... but it's a myth. Any of the iron that gets into your food is not bioavailable, meaning, your body can't absorb it or use it.

Nonstick may be beneficial b/c you use less oil/fat when cooking.....?

They were probably talking about either copper or cast iron - you get trace minerals from either one.

Traces of iron or copper will be leached into your food as you cook with either iron or copper pots and pans. Some foods will release more of the metal than others. This can also effect the taste of some foods which is why I prefer non-reactive cookware. Enhance nutrients with food itself or supplements. Don't look for your cookware to do the job.

Iron might give up some "Iron" during cooking however minuscule the amount.Best all around In my opinion is All-Clad.S/S, Copper core is (faster) but the price ouch.
