Answers: I've made steak plenty of times before...but I've a taste for a tender, juicy cut of new york steak and I want it to be the best meal I've ever made.

cook your steak just how you like it. Meanwhile, saute whole mushrooms is butter and a little worcestershire, garlic powder. When steak is done, put mushrooms on top and top with cheddar. Stick under broiler for 1 min, to melt cheese.

Make potatoes and rolls and a nice caesar salad.
by the way, did I mention I was coming over to join? ;P

You can marinate it with olive oil and herbs.
Also you can add sauteed garlic mushrooms or grilled onions using the left over juices from the steak and top it off with that.
Coarse salt and cracked pepper...maybe a baked potato with all the fixin's.
Montreal (sometimes called Canadian) Steak Seasoning. Most grocery stores should carry it.
If you are looking for toppings, saute garlic, onions, and mushrooms are always a good pick.

Jack Daniel's New York Steak
Whiskey actually makes a great marinade. Not only does it add flavor but it tenderizes the meat as well. Remember when using alcohol in a recipe don't use anything you wouldn't drink.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 pounds flank steak, about 1/2 inch thick
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/4 cup Jack Daniel's whiskey
2 tablespoons butter
salt and pepper to taste
PREPARATION:
With a sharp knife score the New York steak, about 1/8 inch deep, making a diamond pattern. Mix garlic, mustard and whiskey together. Place steak and marinade in a resealable bag and refrigerate at least 1hr. but for best results overnight.
Remove steak from refrigerator and preheat grill. Grill about 3-5 minutes per side brushing with butter periodically. Slice into strips, across the grain and serve.
Can be cooked in the broiler.
Fajita Style New York Strip Steaks
If you're a fan of fajitas, then this steak recipe is for you. What better way is there to enjoy a nice hearty New York strip steak than flavored fajita style.
INGREDIENTS:
4 New York strip steaks, about 12 ounces
1/4 cup cilantro, finely chopped
3 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon black pepper
vegetable oil
PREPARATION:
Preheat grill for medium high heat. In small bowl, combine lime juice, cilantro, chili powder cumin, oil, salt, and black pepper to for a paste. Rub mixture on to both sides of steak. Place on grill and cook for 5 minutes on each side, or to desired donenesss.
Remove from heat, allow to rest for 5-8 minutes before serving.

If it's good steak just a little salt and pepper- 11/2" thick. Either a NY or Ribeye. Cooked rare and a little fat with each bite.
If you have to have sauces, etc. for flavor it's a poor quality and not good beef. Probably from a dairy cow!
