I need a good gralic green bean resipe for thanksgiving with not alott of butter?!
1 pound green beans
2 cloves of garlic, chopped (ready to use jar stuff is fine)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
salt and pepper to taste
In a large saute pan , place the green beans in a single layer( or as close as you can get it) Add the garlic. Add 1/3 cup water. Bring to a boil and cover. Simmer until the beans are tender and let any remaining water evaporate. Add the butter, olive oil and salt and pepper to the hot beans just before serving. Make sure to melt all the butter and toss well to coat the beans.
This "water saute" method is great for any food that you wish to cook without added fat. Adding the butter at the end gives you the flavor and richness of the butter without having to use so much. Also using half olive oil increases the volume of the fat and adds flavor without adding cholesterol.
Answers: My recipe is more about the cooking method than the ingredients.

I buy the canned italian style green beans, I drain them and saute them with garlic, chopped onion and sun dried tomatoes- yum!
use olive oil and lemon pepper
