Mashed Potatoes - yes! Sweet Potatoes - no! Sweet potatoes are one of the very few foods that I just am not crazy about! (but thats just me)

It is a matter of taste, but I like the sweet potatoes mashed with regular potatoes.

I just want the regular masheds. I hate sweet potatoes. I figure if I don't eat the sweet potatoes, there's more for everyone else!

MASHED POTATO - so yummy..

recipe:
2 1/2 pounds Russet, or baking potatoes, cut into 1-inch chunks, about 8 cups of cut up potatoes
1/4 cup milk or half-and-half, or more to taste
1/4 cup butter
3/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Place potatoes in a 4-quart saucepan or Dutch oven; bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
Drain potatoes thoroughly. For the smoothest potatoes, you can put the potatoes through a ricer at this point. Transfer to a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients to the bowl. With an electric hand-held mixer, beat potato mixture until light and creamy.

Mashed potato recipe serves 4 to 6.

yes at our holiday meals there used to be both.....I love mashed potatoes and I love sweet potatoes and having both there just gives people a choice. This year for our thanksgiving dinner, I'm having mashed potatoes but I have some yam patties that I'm going to fix too.

I figure most people have sweet potato casseroles and then mashed potatoes....there is nothing like turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and then some sweet potato casserole! :)

we have mashed potatoes and roast potatoes, i never had sweet potatoes for xmas but i live in england though

I do not eat sweet potatoes.

sweet potatoes yes.
mashed taters no, lol

I do not think they mix together well. Pick one or the other. Go on foodnetwork.com. they have good recipes that you can print out. I think that sweet potatoes are good and it is like a dessert. If you have kids mashed potatoes. Or ask your family first to decide on the vote.
GOOD LUCK.
Joanne
