Michigan Chicken Salad. Does this sound good?!

Question: I'm 15 and I LOVE TO COOK!! I have many of my own recipes already. Today, I just made a Michigan Chicken Salad from scratch. It includes:

-Chicken
-Mayonnaise/miracle whip
-celery
-relish
-red onion
-dried cherries
-walnuts
-lemon juice

I made this all just from scratch and basically just thought: this sounds good to put together, so I tried it and its marvelous! Would anyone else think that it would be good? If you would like to try it I can send the full recipe.

Yes, this sounds really good. Similar to a chicken salad I make with grapes in place of the dried cherries. I will definitely try this! Another variation I like is to use leftover turkey from Thanksgiving and make a turkey salad. Yumm!

Sounds good to me, but I'd leave out the pickle relish. Just my own preference.

Ya it sounds delicious! Im 13 and i love to cook too

My husband and I are both chefs. This sounds like a delicious chicken salad variation. The cherries get it my vote!!! Love and Luck--MissDelanne

Yes, please send me the full recipe. It sounds delicious. I am not a fan of onions, so I would leave that out, but the rest sounds so great.
I have all the stuff on your list right now, so I could try it for lunch!
Thanks for sharing.

Sounds yummy. I make a rotisserie chicken and almond salad that is simple and easy to make and tastes delicious. It has rotisserie chicken, almond slivers, mayo, celery and green onions.

Sounds very good. Much like one I have prepared before.Finish off and give us the recipe here. Try this one too.

Cherry Chicken Salad

3 cups cooked chicken cubed
3 cups green seedless grapes
2 cups candied cherries
1 & 1/2 cups sliced celery
2 tablespoons green onions
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup toasted slivered almonds
1/2 cup toasted walnuts

Boston or Bibb Lettuce Leaves

Combine all ingredients and mix well and serve over lettuce leaves. It is awesome also.

Sounds good enough to eat..

I've often had and liked chicken salad with nuts and fruit (such as diced apples or sliced grapes) and like it. I agree with Sugar Pie though, I'd probably leave out the relish, since you already have the tart/sweetness of the cherries. I'd definitely use mayo and not Miracle Whip (just a personal preference on spreads). The cherries are a nice and innovative touch. Dried cranberries would be another good choice (one thing I love about Thanksgiving is turkey leftover sandwiches with cranberry sauce and mayo.

Yes, please send it to me. As a matter of fact, I live in Michigan.... and would love to try it. Thank you so much.

There is a salad almost like that is called, "Waldorf Salad"...I make it all the time...your twist with the dried cherries sounds lovely..the Waldorf Salad uses raisins....

3 or 4 apples, unpeeled, cut from the core, and chopped into bite size pieces (about 3 cups)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/3 cup raisins

2/3 cup chopped celery

1/3 cup walnuts (optional)

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon sugar

Don't bother peeling the apples unless their skins are really unattractive. Cut up 3 or 4 of them, until you get about 2-1/2 or 3 cups of chopped apples. Sprinkle the lemon juice over the apples. The acid in the lemon juice prevents the apples from turning brown. The raisins will taste best if you plump them first. Do this by measuring them into a cereal bowl and adding enough warm tap water to cover them completely. Allow them to sit for a few minutes, absorbing the water, and softening up. Drain them very well when you need them. I actually squeeze them to make sure they are very dry.

Chop up the celery, it should take about 2 stalks or so. I add black walnuts because I get them for free, but you can use regular walnuts or omit them completely if you don't have any handy. Mix everything together in a medium sized bowl with the mayonnaise and sugar, coating all of the ingredients with the mayonnaise. It is now ready to serve, or you can chill it overnight and serve it tomorrow instead. This is so crunchy and chewy, it is perfect contrast for a meal which is soft, or easy to chew.

This famous recipe after the Waldorf Hotel who served it on thier menu...

C'mon now, send us the whole recipe, you've got us going. I have a 15yo grand daughter and we love her cooking, so I am sure your's is great too.
