If potatoes are added, then the stew will thicken as the water reduces. Otherwise, you may want to add either plain flour or potato flour to thicken the stew before serving.
It only thickens if you have potatoes in it, or if you add a flour/water slurry to boiling liquid.
You need to add something with startch. Flour, potatoes, vegetables, rice, etc.
Wait until just before serving before thickening it.
If you are using the bagged dinner, then you are fine. But I would suggest that you season it still with a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder. If you find that is not as thick as you would like, then add just a small amount of cornstarch and water mixture.
I buy these all of the time to when I know that I will be in late from work. The meal is ready to eat.
You need to put some suet in it, also used for thickening gravy
unless you include flour or potato in the pot, otherwise it won't get thicken. starch is the thicken agent.
you can add corn starch (mix with cold water first) and slowly pour into the stew.
Not on its own. If you dont treat it right you get beef soup :)
Mix oil with some flour in a skillet and fry it untill you get a colour change, then quicly place the contents into the pot and mix for your life! Bring the contents of the pot to a boil and keep it there untill the meat is soft enough to break apart with a spoon.
use a cup pour flour in it then add milk stir until smooth pour in stir again it will thicken it
