Is my Roast Beef Bad?!
Answers: I have some sliced roast beef for sandwiches leftover from Sunday. The meat looks like it shimmers along the edges. Its almost a greenish color in the light. It smells normal, is it gone bad or is this typical. I don't eat roast beef much.
The date is the important factor here. The meat should be ok if it smells fine.
The green tint comes from the slicer when they slice it. The rotating blade on the slicer is so sharp it lets the Roast beef fat shimmer in the light. If you cut it with at knife that sharp you may or may not get the green shimmer.
If it was refridgerated properly, it should be fine. But, it can be hard to say without seeing or smelling the meat.
I was told that the greenish color is light reflected off the fat of the meat, so I think it should be fine.
The "green" may be caused by the lighting, but a shimmering beef sandwitch is ok. Ussually it means you used enough fat that it didnt dry up in the fridge.
