Anyone know a recipe for Cornflake Tart with a layer of custard included? Thought I remembered from school!?!

Yeh that sounds about right from Louisese, but is she feeding the school with these ingredients ? I would do it with a 1/4 of the amounts she stated.Plus if you make some thick custard, and let it cool and spread over the jam, then place the cornflakes and syrup mixture over the top and cook in the oven. If you live in Britian you can buy the custard in packets that you just add hot water to, this is great for making thes type of thing, best of luck in your testing, I'm off to make some now, as you've got me in the mood for it. lol

Those good old dinner ladies could make a great meal out of nothing! Don't remember that particular recipe myself but had plenty similar when i was at school! Chocolate custard used to be my favourite, just can't make it how they used to!

cornflake tart

Ingredients:
***Pastry***
3 pounds Plain flour
12 ounces margarine
12 ounces Lard
salt and water


***Filling***
1 pound Cornflakes
12 ounces margarine
12 ounces sugar
6 ounces syrup
1 1/2 pound Jam



Directions:

Make pastry and line tin, blind bake. Let go cool to cold. Spread pastry with jam. Melt margarine, sugar and syrup. Pour over cornflakes and mix gently. Spread over pastry. Serve with custard to be like school.
