Thanksgiving, what can I make in advance?!
Answers: I am having Thanksgiving while camping out in the desert. There will be about 30 people out there. We all have motorhomes and trailes so we have ovens, stoves, and all the comforts of home but very limited cooking space. I am trying to figure out what I can make in advance with out to much of a headache. I am thinking Stuffing, any advice?
2 days in advance.
pies, cookies, cakes, dough for rolls or bread. just freeze and the day of, pull out in morning and place on cookie sheets and let rise.(i am doing this today lol)
1 day in advance
some of the veggies could be cut up. cold cut platters, hors d vours.(the ones that need to be prepared like dips and baked things too) If you are doing stuffing out of the bird this day would be good too. In cutting up the potatoes cut up and boil a pot of water. Set in the rapidly boiling water for 5 minutes get out and rince down and set in fridge.ready for the next day.
the day of.
pull turkey out prepare that stick in oven, get rolls or bread dough out of freezer and set in baking pans to thaw and rise, the sweet potatoes are already cut so whip them up in the baking dish. the potatoes are ready to go(cut the day before). get them going.
I am hosting this year just a brief of what my plans are.
I made my stuffing yesterday! I just wrapped in foil and put it in the fridge. Then on Thursday all I will have to do is warm it up and maybe add a little exta chicken broth. This should be just fine to make ahead of time, otherwise I am sh!t out of luck!!!! Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!
fruit cocktail!!!i love it
Stuffing, sweet potatoes (leave off the marshamallows until ready to reheat), your veggies (if you are making green bean casserole leave off the topping of french fried onions until you are ready to reheat).
You can do your pies, cranberry sauce, breads.
green bean casserole, stuff is great to make and quick too
2 cans of cut green beans
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup of milk
1 can of fried onions
1 tbs of soy sauce
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
cup of cheese
Mix it all except for 1/3 of the can of fried onions and cheese in a casserole dish, bake on 350 till it starts to bubble (or for like 35 min) take it out sprinkle some cheese on the top and the rest of the onions and leave in for an extra 5 min. Voila
my boyfriend LOVES IT
You can make any and everything in advance. Just store it properly in the fridge and reheat when you are ready. Have fun and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
