What does applesauce replace in cupcake recipes?!

Question: I know that applesauce can be used in box cupcake recipes to replace something, oil or eggs. Which is it? Also, can the same thing be done with every cake recipe, or just box recipes like Duncan Hines?

It can be substituted in every cake/ cupcake/ muffin recipe. It replaces the oil or butter or shortening. Use an equal amount. You really can’t tell the difference when you replace oil or shortening. You taste it a little bit when you replace the butter, because that butter flavor won’t be there. I substitute applesauce all the time.

Oil. The cake will have a different texture, but it can be done for most boxed cakes. The best time to substitute applesauce for oil is in quick bread or muffin recipes.

Instead of oil, try one-half applesauce/one-half nonfat milk, or one-half oil and one-half applesauce. If possible, replace oil completely with applesauce (this works best in cakes, brownies and zucchini bread).

It replaces the oil, and it also works in recipes made from scratch.

I always use applesauce when I make carrot cake. It turns out very moist, and really delicious.

I have used it for both oil or eggs and it is really good. And I have used it in cakes also, it all depends on your taste .You will have to try it for your self to see what you like.
