Suggestions for making green beans?!

Question: My husband loves green beans but hates traditional green bean casserole. He hates anything soft and creamy. He likes his green beans firm and crisp.
Is there a way that I can make green beans for thanksgiving and keep them crisp considering that I have to cook at my house and then drive 1 hour to dinner at aunt's house?

If you can think of a way, please send me a recipe. I would like to use my Kitchen Aid slow cooker but can also use stove or oven.

Blanch (par-cook) your green beans, then saute them in butter and toss in some slivered almonds. You can par-cook them beforehand for travel and finish it up just before dinner is served.

Roasted Green Beans With Peppers & Onion

1 lb. whole frozen or fresh green beans, ends trimmed
1 red pepper, cut into thin strips
1 yellow pepper, cut into thin strips
1 large onion, cut into thin strips
1/2 cup KRAFT Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
1/2 cup KRAFT Shredded Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese

PREHEAT oven to 400°F. Toss vegetables with dressing in large roasting pan.
BAKE 30 min. or until vegetables are tender, stirring after 15 min.
SPRINKLE with cheese. Bake an additional 2 to 3 min. or until cheese is melted.

Go to kraftfoods.com and type in green beans and they will give you many different recipes.
You can also go to Yahoo Foods and they have lots of recipes there too.

make green beans with bacon bits in them...its nive tasting and its kinda crispy..

I USE FRESH GREEN BEANS FOR THIS RECIPE.
PUT IN BOWL AND TOSS WITH OLIVE OIL,GARLIC,SALT AND PEPPER. LAYER ON COOKIE SHEET AND BAKE IN OVEN. I HAVE ALSO DEEP FRIED THEM.

Cook the green beans in chicken broth, until crunchy, cook bacon and onions in another skillet, drain the green beans and add to the bacon and onions, saute to keep warm.. Excellent and really good cold too.

You could steam them once you get there, I don't know how good they would be if you did it before hand. Steamed green beans and dried cranberries are delicious. If you put them in the slow cooker with some ham or bacon, butter, and salt and pepper and cooked them for a long time, they will be good, but not crisp. I think green bean casserole has to be the most digusting dish ever.

i have found the easiest and fastest way to great green beans is to add garlic salt and cook. after wards, strain all liquids and add almond slivers. it's excellent. you can also buy a frozen box of "steam" green beans and cook them in the microwave....i forget who makes them, but i believe it was green giant. (they say steam in bag in microwave on box) they already have the almonds in them and it takes 5 minutes to steam in the microwave. i made those, and added the garlic salt (until you can just smell the garlic), a little bit of butter and some black pepper....they were incredible.
