I'm thinking about brining my Turkey this year. Can I season the Turkey after I remove it from the brine?!

Question: You should not season it with salt since the brine contains enough salt. You can put things in the cavity to give it the essence of those things. If the brine contains seasonings other than salt I would not season it any further. If it is just salt you are brining with you can season it with some herbs like thyme and rosemary. Also, you should use a turkey that hasn't been injected with those flavorings like the Butterballs you find at your grocer. Try Whole Foods or just ask your butcher.

Yes, as long as you stay away from salt and any supermarket spice mixes that contain a great deal of salt. Focus more on herbs, either dried or fresh, if you have them.

P.S. Brining will help to flavor a turkey, but it is possible to overbrine. If this happens, then not only does the meat become salty, it also takes on the greasy qualities of lower-grade deli meats. If uncertain about brining time, err on the side of caution and cut it short.

Add your favorite seasonings to the brine.
