Boil it with saffron in the water. Once it's cooked, stir in some grated parmesan cheese.
Soy sauce......
parsley and butter
rice with chicken and gravy on top
rice with teryaki chicken on top
cook your rice in chicken broth instead of water to add flavor
mix with steamed veggies
Make gravy.
One of my friends invited me to dinner one night and served the most wonderful white rice. When the rice was cooked, she added a can of creamed coconut to it. Thats it! Stir well and get it heated through. She served it with a fantastic fish.
you can jazz up your rice by adding a couple packets of chicken boullion and a bay leaf. it's sort of a quickie knock-off version of rice pilaf. also try sazon with a little black pepper.
I always use chicken stock for my liquid, adds so much flavor, stir in some cooked chopped broccoli and some cheddar cheese for delicious broccoli cheddar rice.
Make red beans and rice with smoked sausage. Now that's jazzy!!!
On medium heat, saute one cup of white rice in two tablespoons olive oil with a half cup of chopped onion.
Stir it while it cooks.
When the onions are done pour in a cup and a half of water with one Chicken bullion cube.
Stir it well until the cube is dissolved and the water is boiling.
Put on the tight fitting lid and reduce the heat.
Don't peek.
20 minutes later you will have light fluffy rice Pilaf.
I like to jazz it up by sauteing some chopped onion and apple
in a little butter with a teaspoon of dry curry powder, some raisins, slivered almonds. Add your rice and saute a little more. Then add chicken, vegetable stock, or water and cook.
A little lemon juice and black pepper is great on steamed rice. Or you can brown the rice with a little onion in oil, then add chicken stock and whatever spices you like (saffron, chili powder, garlic, etc), cover and simmer.
Sometimes I add chicken or vegetable broth to the rice, I add butter or sazon for extra flair. Sometimes I just add some fresh veggies or a can of corn or even some green olives. That is just keeping it simple. You can always add someother sauce or oil for flavor as well. Enjoy!
it's not "exciting"--I just add some chicken-in-a-mug to it when I serve it with chicken.
when my kids were small, they enjoyed some kraft regular bbq sauce mixed into the rice after it was cooked
one of my favorite meals is when my wife bakes boneless chicken breasts in white rice and adds a can of cream of chicken soup rather than water for the rice to cook in.
I start with enough butter to coat the rice- melt the butter, add the rice and stir for about two minutes, then add the liquid. You could also add some chopped onions to the melted butter, let soften, then add the rice, cook for a couple minutes and add liquid. Chicken broth is a good liquid to use, and a splash of white wine. when I have mushrooms, I add them, too- and some butter and parmesan cheese mixed in when cooked. Yummy.
