How to make an easy turkey?!
Answers: I am not a cook at all. The closest I come to making a meal is with a homestyle bake lol. This year I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house for my military family. So I am in charge of making the Turkey and don't even know where to start. It is a 20 lb. Turkey. Please help me with some extremely easy ways to cook it.
You will love me for this answer! I was recently in the grocery store and a woman said she cooks her turkey in her crockpot! I said, "No Way." I let it thaw enough to take the bags out of the cavity, put it in the night before as we slept, put chicken broth or water half way up (little less actually) poured olive oil on top and herbs of your choice, salt, pepper.Next morning: Perfection! The meat fell off the bone! I couldn't believe it! Easy!!!!!!!!!!!! Delicious!!!!!!! Do two -10 pound turkeys.Borrow another crockpot.
You can buy turkeys at the grocery store that are already seasoned and ready for the oven. Jenny-O makes some real good ones...I've had them before.
Just follow this recipe - it's very easy & well explained:

There really is no "easy" way to bake a turkey. If you are a novice, this is really not something you should be doing. That said, if you have a 20lb bird, you should have been defrosting it in the fridge for the last week. If you haven't, you are already in trouble. Get a clean dishpan or bucket, and soak it in cold salt water, changing the water every 30 minutes, and hopefully it will be thawed in time for tomorrow. If your bird is defrosted, hopefully, you are ready to prep it. Remove the packet of giblets, neck, etc, from the cavity of the bird. Turn the turkey breast up, and liberally butter it with softened butter or margarine UNDER the skin. Separate the skin from the breast, and run your hands up under it to accomplish this. Salt and pepper the bird, again under the skin with your hands. Get a large oven cooking bag to cook your bird in, you can find these at the grocery store this time of year. This is important, as it is the easiest way to keep the turkey from drying out, and you don't have to baste and all that. Lightly flour the inside of the bag to keep the bird from sticking. After putting the turkey in the bag, poke a few holes in the bag to keep it from bursting, and put it in your roasting pan BREAST SIDE DOWN. This will keep the breast from drying out during cooking. Cook at 325-350 (depending on how hot your oven cooks) for about 4 hours. After the first hour, turn the turkey over so it is breast side up. For the last 15 minutes, cut open the oven bag to let the skin crisp and brown. The turkey is done when the juices run clear and the drumsticks move readily. The internal temp of the meat, taken with a meat thermometer, should be between 165 and 180. Be careful the thermometer doesen't touch the bone when you take the temp. After taking the bird out of the oven, cover it with foil and let it rest for 20 minutes, to let the juices settle in the meat, and so it doesn't tear when you try to carve it.
Ok I am not a fancy cook but I am a good cook! I take the turkey and wash it out real good. If you want to stuff it and you don't want to fuss take the Stove Top stuffing mix prepared as directed. Then take butter slices and stick it under the skin of the turkey and rub melted butter or a little oil on the outside, sprinkle with some poultry seasoning, salt and pepper if you want then stick it in the oven. I like using a roaster pan with a lid or a big cake pan with foil, take the foil off about 1 hour before its done for brownness. Simple but delicious follow the directions on the turkey for the time and temp.
