Usually, stuff like that isn't truly an "expiration date"... it's a "best before" date. There IS a difference. An "expiration date" is found on medicine and fresh meat. Using stuff past an expiration date is potentially harmful. A "best before" date is an advisory. If you use stuff after a "best before" date, it may not be quite as fresh, but it's definitely stull usable. Grocery stores use them to differentiate between new and old stock.

Olive oil, in my opinion, would have a "best before" date. It ages much like fine wine.

Call 411 and find out,

It really depends on whether its been opened, how much air is in it, and the temperature it is stored at. It might be fine.

Open it up and take a sniff. If it smells like old wood furniture, don't use it. You'd be better off using plain old vegetable oil instead.

Give it a taste test too. Don't worry, even if it has gone rancid, it's not toxic(but you won't want to cook with it).

Olive oil can go rancid...so make sure you check it out before using. I never knew it expired as soon as it did either. Found out the hard way
