The standard rule is 2 cups water to 1 cup rice. use a pot with a tight fitting lid, add a bit of salt, a teaspoon of butter or margarine in the water, then add the rice. Cook over high heat until the rice boils, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook about 20 minutes, or until all the liquid is soaked up into the rice. Don't keep opening the lid. I make perfect rice every time!
PS-You don't have to rinse the rice either. If you want to, you can, but it is not necessary.
Happy cooking!

first you add about 2 cups of rice and then you put in water and sort of mix it up and squeeze it to clean the rice, then you keep doing it over and over until the water gets clean.then use drinking water to do the same thing about 2 times and then put it in the rice cooker and your done!

Usually there's instructions right on the bag, but incase you can't find them...

There are so many ways to cook rice- depending on the type and origin. Here is a basic recipe for plain white rice.

2 cups long-grain rice
3 cups water

Put the rice in a 3 quart pot or saucepan with a tight fitting lid (don't put the lid on yet!) and pour in the water.
Bring to a boil, and cook until the surface looks "cratery" (like the surface of hot lava or something).
Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for about ten minutes, till the water is gone.
Let rice stand for a minute or two, then remove the lid, fluff the rice, and serve!

Just buy a box of Uncle Bens and follow the instructions.

you can make as much or as little as you like as long as your remember it's 2 - 1

2 cups water
1 cup rice........
put on heat, add a little salt......... bring to boil........ simmer about 15 minutes or so, keep checking.... until all the water is absorbed by the rice, fluff with a fork

Quickest and easiest way is as follows: 1 part rice to 2 parts water or broth. No rinsing necessary. Add rice to cold liquid, bring to a boil, cover turn down to a simmer til all liquid is absored. Never has failed me.

Let's start with what you need. Rice and water.

Uncooked Rice[in cups]------Water[in cups]
1---------2.25
2----------4.25
3----------6
4----------8 <<<----Why you would need this much rice.....

Put both the rice and water into a large pot that has a lid, bring it to a boil on high, and let it boil for a couple minutes[2-3]. Then, put the lid on top, bring it to a LOW simmer, and wait twenty minutes. After that, remove it from the heat source and let it sit, with the lid still on, for ten minutes. This helps steam the rice and give it perfect consistency. There you go. The basic recipe is for every cup of uncooked rice, use 2 cups of water, but for one or two cups, you need the extra water to keep from burning it.
