Do you know a egg custard pie recipe similar to this one?!


Question: This recipe seem similar to the one my mom used to make. However, I don't recall any scalding milk. Do you know one similar to this one.


1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shells, deep dish

3 eggs, beaten

3/4 cup white sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg white

2 1/2 cups scalded milk

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

3 drops yellow food coloring (optional)

2 1/2 cups scalded milk

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

3 drops yellow food coloring (optional)

Buttermilk egg custard
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk

Beat together eggs and sugar. Add melted butter, flour and vanilla. Slowly beat in buttermilk. Pour in unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 degrees until custard is thick and set. An old family favorite.
