I have fresh pecans falling from the trees in my back yard. How can I use them tomorrow for dinner. I'm making!
Answers: pumpkin pie, so I really don't want to use them in a pie. Does anyone have any fresh, neat ideas? I'm planning on having Turkey, mashed potatoes, cut corn, green bean casserole and biscuits. If anyone was going to be here besides me, my hus and my son, I might do salad or fresh veggies, but hus won't eat them, so I'm not wasting my time.
I think I would chop them up and add them to the green bean casserole. It'll add a nutty flavor and texture to it. You can also just roast 'em in the oven with a little salt and display them in a candy dish for those before-lunch munchies.
How about a Waldorf Salad using chopped apples, celery, pecans, and mayonnaise.

If you can't use them all, maybe give some away, lots of people(like me) love to eat fresh pecans.

Why not use them in the turkey stuffing? Lots of recipes on the internet using nuts in stuffing.

For Thanksgiving morning, make a special breakfast of sticky pecan rolls, pecan waffles, or pecan pancakes! You can also make pecan shortbread or some other treat to give to neighbors and family as a 'Thank You' gift!

Spiced nuts Yummy!
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp egg white
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
2 cups whole raw nuts (pecans are my favorite)
Whisk sugar, spices and egg white in a medium bowl. Add nuts and stir to coat. Spread mixture on a baking sheet and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Cool and seal in an airtight container.
I thought this sounded like a great snack to have on the table while dinner is still cooking.
I would use them in brownies, a chocolate sheet cake, make turtles(chocolate & carmel), or on an icecream desert.
