I want to sub pumpkin pie spice instead of individual spices on 29 oz Libby can - 2 pies. What amt to use?!

Question: 3 1/2 teaspoons

Answers: 3 1/2 teaspoons

I use a whole container - the small sized one - for every 29 ounce can of pumpkin. People rave about my pies when I do it this way - they are a bit spicer and, IMO, tastier when you use pumpkin pie spice.

Here is one recipe for one pumpkin pie You can see the amount of spices that you wish to substitute.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 cups pumpkin puree
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup evaporated milk, undiluted
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
9-inch pie crust, unbaked
PREPARATION:
In mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, sugar, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and flour. Add eggs; mix well. Add evaporated milk, water and vanilla; mix well. Pour pumpkin pie mixture into a 9-inch pastry lined pie pan.

I would change the 2 cinnamon for 1 cinn and 1 pumpkin pie spice and taste it to see how that works.

my pumpkin pie spice bag says to use 2 to 3 tsps per pie. This from Penzeys Spices. They have really great pie spice. So for one can of pumpkin I'd add 4 tsps. and give it a taste before you add the eggs and add more if you feel you need it.
