Dressing or Stuffing?!

Question: What do you call it?

Being from the South and marrying a gentleman from the North I have decided that if it is made with white bread it is stuffing and if made with cornbread it is dressing. lol

stuffing is the name when inside a chunk of meat. Dressing is the name when cooked on the side in a dish :)

Dressing is cooked outside the bird. Stuffing is cooked inside the bird. Also I would say dressing is made with bread and stuffing with corn bread. I Love dressing.

I love cornbread stuffing/dressing especially with oysters, andouille, and tasso.

Depends on how you cook it, in or out.
In the end, does it really matter. I just love to eat it.

there is one basic recipe for corn bread dressing is made with corn bread, celery, onions, chicken stock, butter and sage and is a side dish but it can be used to stuff a bird,

there are endless recipes for stuffing
stuffing is popular in the east coast it is intended to fill or stuff the bird and it is made of white or french bread, the recipe is similar but you add more ingredients such as fruits, nuts, sausage, and more herbs

stuffing allows more room for creativity where as dressing is basic and simple
