I have a 20 lb. turkey to cook tomorrow. How long do I cook it?!
Answers: 15 minutes per pound at 325 degrees, so about 5 hours...I would go at least half an hour extra, though. I always rub butter on the outside of the bird, put about a cup of water in the pan, cover with foil, and baste every half an hour. Take the foil off for the last half an hour so it gets pretty and golden brown! I've never had a dry turkey yet! The turkey probably comes with a pop-up timer that lets you know that the inside of the turkey has reached 170 degrees, if not, stick a meat thermometer in to test. Don't listen to the advice to cook overnight at 250 degrees...Yes, it does make a great tasting turkey, but the oven never gets hot enough to kill off food-born bacteria that can cause your family to become very sick.
directions are usually on the package
8 hours
Brown it first, and then turn the temp down to 300 depending upon the oven.
Don't forget to put apple slices inside the turkey!
figure 15-20 minutes per pound.
about 3-4 hours, or until it reaches 180F.
About an hour for every 4 lbs.
However, if you're not sure, just put it in the oven at 10:00 AM and keep it cooking until 7:00 PM. It won't hurt the turkey at all ^^
20lbs should cook 4 1/2 - 6 hours depending on your oven. Most turkeys have the internal thermometers which help.
it should come with a red little miniature thermometer that pops up when its ready. Check to see that it is golden brown and that juices run clear.

i would say about 5 to 6 hours , i always go a lil longer to be sure its cooked threw . but not to go to much longer cause then it will be dry and shity . happy thanksgiving to you and your family .
Until the pop-up timer pops up.
It is a half an hour per pound usually, around 4-5 hours, most have a timer in them that will pop up, just keep basting it, and checking it around every 1/2 hour, keep a tent of foil over it so it don't burn.
at least 5 hours.
if you need more info just check out the butterball website. they have a special number you can call to find out how long and how high each part of the turkey needs to be.
happy holidays!
look for the directions on the package
if they dont have them u can always look on the internet bc i have no clue
What I do is stuff it and butter it down, then at midnight, I bake at 250 degrees all night... til about 6 or 7 a.m.. It's always sooooo juicy and tender!!! I also make a tent over it with aluminum foil. No one has ever complained about MY birds! lol... Best wishes~ and a blessed and safe Happy holiday
It depends on if you stuff it or not. Stuffing your bird will take longer to cook. Call the Butterball Hot-line (1-800-BUTTERBALL) or check out their website if you have any questions about your turkey even if you're not using Butterball brand.
it depends on if u r gonna bake it or fry it! u should give it atleast 3 mins per lbs to cook if u r gonna fry it! so, it should be 60 mins for 20 lbs turkey!
happy thanksgiving!
there's a that little white plastic piece with a red button should come with your turkey. Lodge that piece into the breast of yoor Turkey. Cook dat Turkey at 350 and all of a sudden when dat red button pops up, you got some good eat baby.
cook it
I read the directions on the bag the turkey came in and follow them religiously. If you cook a turkey too long, the meat is dry and its hard to eat.
Also. if you buy the turkey coooking bags, follow the directions on box the bags come in. Do everything according to the directions on the turkey cooking bags right down to the flour in the bag and cut some small holes in the top. Baking a turkey in a bag has been my best experience.
The turkey comes out moist and juicy and not over cooked.
Happy thanksgiving and blessings to you and your family.
When it stops jerking, it is done
20 minutes per pound or 3 pounds per hour so about 7 hours at 325 degrees.
It depends whether it's stuffed or not. I'd cut and paste this info for you, but Butterball won't let me copy it.
