Can you substitute canned pumpkin when the recipe calls for fresh?!

Question: Depends on the recipe.

Fresh pumpkin will be much more watery than canned. You may need to add some liquid to your dish. Without knowing what you're making, it's hard to comment.

I assume you need puree or else this is a non issue since canned pumpkin is already pureed.

Just be sure to buy plain canned pumkin and not the premixed kind you just add to a pie shell.Be sure the tin says plain pumpkin, nothing else added.
