Sometimes, the beer kind of adds in an exotic flavor to it. I like to use wine or champagne, however.
same reason they use wine to make sauces etc - because it can enhance flavour. doesnt mean your a bloomin alcoholic tho you idiot.
certain foods paired with certain beers bring out more flavor in both...same with wine..
Nah it adds a unique flavor to the food...

It's not like it gets you drunk or even effects you at all.
My uncle is a cook and one's of his favorites is beef cooked in beer without adding water. It was great, I tell you.
for the flavour. the alcohol gets cooked out.
It adds flavor and helps tenderize some cuts of meat. The alcohol cooks out of it. I am NOT an alcoholic [have A drink a couple times a year] and I cook with beer and wine. Try it, you might like it. Nothing like home made spaghetti sauce made with beer or splash of red wine.
Beer adds flavor and also the carbonation helps tenderizes the meat. The alcohol actually burns off within seconds on being added in since alcohol is so volatile. It's like adding coke or wine to your food.
Try Port chops with a little bit of Magners and some apples. It tastes exquisite. Alcohol generally brings more flavour to the food.
It adds flavour and it tenderizes the meat (the cheaper cuts are usually used in a steak and kidney pie/pud).
And by the time it is all cooked up the alcohol will be long gone having evaporated at oven temperatures.
It is for the flavour.
Have you ever tried to ad a bit of beer to your pancakes? I know it sounds weird but it makes the edges crispy and it taste really nice.It does not taste of beer.
