Start with something simple that you have eaten before so that you know how it is supposed to taste. Then, either get a recipe from someone you trust, i.e. mom, grandma, aunt and follow it precisely. It is best not to experiment until you have gained a little more experience.

Go to the internet and find an easy recipe if you can't ask someone.

Try the http://www.foodnetwork.net and search for a recipe you want to make. I think something like spaghetti would be a good place to start. Otherwise, look at Rachael Ray, Ina Garten or Giada De Laurentis recipes and see if you find one that you think you can make.

It won't matter what you make; your family will appreciate your efforts and may even encourage you to do more cooking.

By the way, I first cooked a whole dinner for my family when I was 11 years old and I have been happily cooking every since.

Before you do this, spend some time in the kitchen, watching your mom cook. Ask questions and enjoy the time with her.
Then start with something simple, like tacos. Or you could make spaghetti, using jarred sauce,or sloppy joes with Manwich.
Cooking is easier if you do the dishes as you use them...my own personal hint for you! ;)

Watch Rachael Ray! Then look up her recipies online.

read the directions and follow them......

How about some mini meatloaves? http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mini-Meatlo...

You could serve these with boiled potatoes (easy to do with canned potatoes!) ... tasty with butter and salt and pepper. Green beans or corn would be tasty and easy to heat up.

Or make the individual meatloaves into hamburger-like patties and serve them on warmed buns with your favorite chips, pickles, and a relish plate (carrots, celery, olives, etc.).

Ice cream makes a perfect easy dessert. Use chocolate syrup or butterscotch or caramel topping to make sundaes!
