They may be referring to brining when they say marinade. Brining or marinating should be done for hours before you actually cook the turkey, so if you're serving your turkey today, it's pretty much too late. The best you can do is the suggestion above with the herbs and butter under the skin prior to cooking, which is really good, by the way. Here is a link on how to brine a turkey, in case you're not serving it today. I'm brining mind today because I'm serving it tomorrow. Good luck!

OK, the more I thought about it, I realize what they probably meant by marinating, is injecting marinade in the turkey itself. Here is a recipe for marinate. (You need to have an injector to marinade a turkey this way.)

Garlic Lemon Pepper Injectable Marinade

3 tablespoons melted butter
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2/3 cup chicken stock
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon garlic power
2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon finely ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Tabasco, or to taste (optional)

Makes plenty of marinade to inject an 8-15 pound turkey.

Mix all ingredients together in a small suacepan over medium heat untill all ingredients are dissolved and well blended. Let cool to room temperature before injecting in the turkey. Before putting the marinade in the injector, whisk the mixture well to emulsify all the ingredients together.

Rub the skin with butter mixed with spices and shove the mix under the skin of the bird, leave in the fridge for an hour or two then cook as normal

Put the turkey in a garbage bag with the marinade, and then stick it in a cooler with ice

one of the ways i do it is grab a beer empty about 3/4 then stick it in the cavity of the bird the steam generated will moisten it very well basteing only coats the skin.
