In regards to my last question on how to make bannock,[do really need to use lard or is oil an alternative?]?!

Question: i have no lard.

Answers: i have no lard.

Crisco or vegetable shorting works better than oil but in a pinch yes you can use oil.

Use oil with higher temperature tolerance like the lard, which doesn't burn so easier at high temperature. Otherwise, you can still use normal vegetable oil to make bannock, though it wouldn't have the nuttiness from lard.
