find an easy slow-cooker soup recipe online so that you can enjoy the party, too... serve with a nice cheese and bread assortment and everyone will feel right at home, helping themselves to an extra bowl of soup or bread roll... after you've chosen the soup recipe, the person at the liquor store can help you with wine selection...
as for decorations? Your seasonal best will be just fine...light some candles, turn the tree lights on and enjoy! Happy Holidays!

For your table put a christmas printed napkin next to each plate and then take a plain colored matching color napkin and wrap the silverware in it. tie with a ribbon. You could also buy each guest a christmas orniment and put one at each place setting.I buy my wine from a local winery here in wisconsin , maybe look for one near you they usually have a specialty wine for the Christmas season. hope this helps.

for a holiday party I would suggest making lasagna or a big batch of chili to keep your guests nice and toasty! have a nice green salad on the side with fresh French bread. I'd grab a couple different types of wine to serve your guests but have something else for backup for those who don't like wine. keep the decorations simple, get some poinsettias to put all over in bunches, have a nice red table cloth and fabric napkins on the table, make some kind of holiday napkin ring for them, play holiday music for awhile (but not all night!) have TONS of candles everywhere!
