Help with ideas 2yrs old b-day party dec29(boy)?!
Answers: food, deco, and not much money. i have $170 for christmas and b day. cheap ideas please.
Since he is only 2, I would just stay with the Christmas theme for decorations. If it is a family party, I would ask everyone to bring something and make it a potluck. Most people have so much food left from the holidays they would love a way to get rid of it. Since most kids have already gotten so many toys, you could ask people to bring a toy to donate to a shelter. For his cake, I would just go with a theme that he likes like a cartoon character. I guess the most important thing is to be with family and friends. You could get some napkins and plates of the same theme. Whatever you do, have fun.
winter wonderland, frosty the snowman, blues clues, bob the builder
since he is only going to be 2 then i would go with simple cake and ice cream. Hold back a Christmas present to give as bd present. He wont remember it anyway. Have a few friends (limit to 4 other kids) and just let them play. A party at this age is really for the parents. So don't waste your money on it.
Just a suggestion for later on: Try and keep your child's bd apart from Christmas. My bd is 12/17 so I do understand, my parents always had a small family bd party (similar to what i said above) then in June I had a bd party with all my friends. Everyone wants to feel special on their bd, but with being so close to Christmas it sometimes gets lost.
food ... hes two what he lieks would be awsome if he likes mac an cheese or cake either way how about a balloon theme you can pick up like 100 for a couple bucks at the store you can buy cake mix and draw balloons on it with frosting .. xmas ideas,, stuff that lights up or trucks or stuffed annimals
Pick the toy/character that your son plays with the most. If you have more than 1 Blue or Elmo that's your theme. The largest one becomes the centerpiece. Smaller plastic ones are cake toppers-one box of cake mix from the dollar store=1 sheet cake. Solid color laytex balloons from the same store in the color of the toy with 1 mylar to decorate. Likewise with plates and napkins. Keep it small-family and 2 friends, and you'll have a great b-day for under $30.00.
I had a bug bd party for my son's 2nd. You can get lots of things from dollar stores and not spend too much. My son's bd is also in December, so we always make a point of making a big dial of it. Remember be creative. A fun party doesn't have to be expensive.
He is 2 and it is just after the holiday. I say do cake and ice cream and just invite those close to you, be it family or friends. Purchase a fun solid color plate for your cake and ice cream. Maybe make a book party where everyone brings him a book instead of a toy if he gets lots for Christmas!
We went with an Elmo theme, so I used the 40% off coupon that comes in the Sunday paper to buy an Elmo cake pan at Michael's. Making the cake saved us some money. I lucked out and found Elmo/Sesame Street wrapping paper, balloons, plates and napkins at the dollar store. The dollar store was the best place for us in planning a party on a budget.
We just invited grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousin and served cake and ice cream (okay, and goldfish crackers because Elmo's best friend is Dorothy the goldfish) and tried to keep it pretty low-key. Our little boy was still pretty wound up with the excitement, though.
Don't go overboard on gifts. I think our little guy was overwhelmed with the presents. This is a great week for shopping for gifts due to the holiday sales. If you're looking for a gift on a budget, my son's favorite birthday gift was his Mr. Potato Head set.
Have fun!
What about an under the sea party? It might make it seem like it's separate from the winter and Christmas stuff, and it's easy to do.
Get a bunch of balloons to create the effect of bubbles (or just get a few to float overhead to create the top of the ocean). Find an old box and let your son help you decorate it like a treasure chest. You can find various "treasures" to put in it or just leave it closed and put it in a corner as a sunken treasure chest decoration. Draw some simple fish shapes and cute them out, then let him help you color them. You've got your decorations. Give your guests some little bottles of bubbles and you have your favors and something for the kids to play with for a little while.
Serve little bowls of goldfish crackers and make cookies for snacks. You could also make other foods and shape them like fish or octopuses or whatever if you need more food -- sandwiches or whatever. Put out chips or a bowl of fruit or some veggies and dip if you need other finger foods. Kids this age do well with finger foods, of course, and anything they can dip seems to be a hit! They can drink water -- "sea water" of course. ;) Or just buy some bottles of juice or little juice boxes on sale.
You can do the whole thing -- decorations, food, etc. -- for very low cost, and you can do as much or as little with the theme as you want. It's also easy to make cute invitations. That will save you the cost of buying invitations. Good luck!
