What to serve as a side-dish?!
Answers: I'm making tater tot casserole tonight for my cousin, his wife, and their 2 year old. It has Tater Tots, hamburger, cream of chicken soup, mixed veggies, and cheddar cheese in it. I know this is not a gourmet meal, but my husband has mentioned it several times to them and they'd like to try it. I'm stumped as to what to serve with the meal though... it already has starch, protein, veggies, and dairy... I was thinking maybe some sort of roll or garlic bread, and a waldorf salad, but it seems kind of complex to go with a busy casserole... any suggestions of a good side-dish?
I think you need something green, a green salad, steamed broccoli, green beans, anything green.
A chopped green salad and garlic bread sounds good.
definately a salad! Waldorf would be good, or something w/mandarin oranges...just something nice and light tho.
While it does sound good and full of lots of things, I'd suggest a simple garden salad or maybe some steamed asparagus or grean beans to add some color to this meal. Enjoy!
Cabbage soup or french frys
Hi There;
I would serve it with just a lettuce salad a couple choices of dressings and a good hard roll or rustic bread...of coarse with lots of real butter.Some people like homemade biscuits with it.

for a side dish i would serve this cold salad....cut tomatoes, cucumbers, cooked black beans in Italian dressing
fire roasted red-peppers simply on their own from a jar is great.
greek salad with feta cheese
tomoato and onion salad (just salt it)
cucumber and onion salad (add a hint of salt, vinegar and some sour cream and voila)
First thing that came to my mind was a green salad & rolls but your waldorf salad with the broccoli sounds reallly good too (wish I had the recipe). Have both. Then I thought of boiled corn, coleslaw & jello salad too. It all sounds good. Everyone seems to love that bagged coleslaw with some chopped green onion added & some black pepper & that bottled Kraft Coleslaw Dressing. Well you gave me some ideas for supper. Baked beans sound good too. I'm way down south & when we entertain sometimes we don't worry too much about the starches & stuff, just whatever everyone likes. There's always deviled eggs too.
