What should I do for my husband's 30th birthday party?!

Question: I really want to make it special! I am considering creating the party around his hobbies/interests. For example: he likes retro/modern video games. I want it to be an adult party as far as the food goes, but I also want it to be fun for my husband and our guests! Any suggestions would be helpful.

Chuck E. Cheese!!!

Just kidding. :)

You are on the right track by wanting to incorporate his interests into the theme of the event - this is absolutely the right way to go.

I don't know where you live, but there are tons of places that rent modern and retro video game units. If you have access to a large space, either in your house, or if you can rent a local community center, you can get a 3-4 hour rental of a bunch of video games and create your own private arcade - for a gamer, this would be a little slice of heaven.

While the above suggestion is cool, it may not necessarily be "heaven" on your wallet. If that's the case, have a more intimate party and style elements of it after his favorite gaming characters - mini grilled sandwiches cut to look like PacMan, things like that.

I'd give you more ideas, but while I throw a great party, I'm not a gamer!

But one more thing to consider - you could take the party to a place like Jillians or Dave and Busters, but the fact is that while you may have a private party room for food and drinks, the entire facility is likely not going to close to other visitors just for you, so when your guests go to play games, they might get lost in the facility, meaning, no real guest interaction. BUT, try a place with laser tag. Depending on the size of your group, you might be the only ones playing, and it's a blast.

Good luck ...

Have you considered asking him what he'd like for his birthday? Has he given you ideas or is he leaving it completely up to you?
If you're wanting to make it a surprise I would imagine you've already sussed out what he'd like?
Good Luck whichever path you're on!
p.s. Remember - it's HIS birthday !!!!!

I think ......Give him a latest video game as a gift.......arrange a party with both of your parents and his friends........in a big way........go to a long drive after the party........Go to your favorite place share some good feelings that you had with him.............if you have kids play with them..just make the day as full of affection,warm...........

I had a surprise party for my hubby's 30th. I enlisted my dad to take him shopping for surround sound stuff. My dad had been talking about hooking up a speaker system in his living room so this worked out perfectly. A few family and several of his friends were invited. We had plenty of food and booze. This was an early evening party so once the family started to leave we drank a bit more at home and then went out bar hopping.

Since your hubby is into gaming, is there an arcade (we have a place called Jillian's here. They have games, bowling, pool, etc.) place nearby that has a party room? If so look into renting the room and then see about ordering food or bringing in food and booze. People can play and drink and hang out.

Hire a beautiful belly dancer. That should pep himup while you watch her dance.
