Question: depending on your courses.
White wine with fish/ red wine with red meats
Start with Appetizors
Then the Soup or juice
Next is the salad
Then the main course and veggies are served
Later the desserts,
Then the after dinner drinks

For serving start at the head of the table and next in turn is the person at the "heads" right side... then proceed on around the table. Whether served by server or Family Style... pass the same.

You have to have appitizers,an eligant meal, water, thier choice of drink, and a desert like cake or ice cream!

depends on what type of party,just be relaxed&easy going..Happy host=happy guests..&be a gracious host

Hire a butler.Serve food.

depends on what kind of dinner party.. is it for a huge group of people? if so, hire some help... like a caterer, some waiters or even a bar tender.. leave the food to them while you handle mingling with the guests. if it's a big group, don't focus too much time and energy in one particular group of people or one particular individual.
if it's a small intimate gathering, make it as comfortable as possible. it wouldn't be hard to divide your attention then and hiring help wouldn't be necessary. you can also have your friends over early for dinner so they can help in the kitchen. it's not really being rude to have your friends help.. it would be a nice fun way to bond while cooking dinner, sneaking a couple of spoonfulls to "taste test", drink beer over the stove.. etc..
you can also give small tokens of appreciation aka. thank you gifts before letting the guests leave... it doesn't have to be something expensive or fancy.. it can be something homemade or personal.. it could be edible or simply for display, it's up to you.. (ex. cookie, a mug, a note, a picture taken during the party with or without a frame, a pen, etc..)

dinner parties shouldn't be that stressful to plan and host... it should leave you dead tired when all the guests finally leave but smiling from the memories of your successful dinner partythat everyone will be talking about the next day.. :)
